Welcome to Destination Carlisle's Virtual Downtown Guide!  We have designed this progressive web app (PWA) as an easy-to-use tool for locals and tourists to use while in downtown Carlisle.  This is not meant as a comprehensive directory for downtown or the entire town but rather designed to be a fun, interactive virtual tour guide.  If you're heading downtown, already here, or looking for something new to do while you're with us, use this guide to help you discover our neighborhood.  This is a living document, meaning we will continue to expand and edit it moving forward, and you can be a part of that process by sharing your downtown experiences with us!  This PWA uses where you are to help make suggestions to you and show you the way, so please make sure your location services are turned on for best results.  You will also be asked to allow cookies, which makes sure you have the best functionality of our virtual guide. 

Some things you can do include:

  • You can access the full menu by hitting the bars at the top left beside our logo, and from the home page, you can click the titles of each section to see the full content in that category.

Just a note--a PWA can be put onto your mobile device's home screen like an app but doesn't download as much information onto it, and it can be viewed on a laptop or desktop computer as well.

The core of this PWA was developed over a year between June 2019 and August 2020.  It's a labor of love made with hundreds of volunteer hours by our president, Stephanie Patterson Gilbert, with help from our secretary, Jennifer Oswald, and advising member, Erin Paup.
